Plafit Super 24 with Rabbit
Hi,
A week ago I bought a Plafit Super 24 chassis ( http://www.slotbox.de/07629801-1.jpg ) because I would like to drive my Tamiya bodys on my slotcar track. I also bought a Plafit
Rabbit motor with it it ( http://www.slotbox.de/07628890.jpg ).
At home I have a small carrera track of 8,5m long. I use a Parma 25Ohm controller and the standard power supply (350mA/lane).
My first impressions of the chassis are good, it "looks" really great and it fits my STW BMW M3 of Johny Cecotto well. On the track the car looks
great too! But the motor doesn't give the power I expected it would give.
So here's my technical question, what is causing the lack of power (and braking) in the car. I geared down the motor to the blue pinion (8 teeth I
think) and it helps allready, but not enough. Is the rabbit motor not powerfull enough, or is it a problem of power supply to the track?
For a comparission, my white point chassis with black standard motor with 10teeth pinion wins straight line sprint from BMW...
How come there isn't a motor section in the technical part of this site (which is great btw!!)

You should replace the Power Supply with a Power Supply that have 1-5 Amps pr. Lane, that should help you a lot!
The Standard Bison motor i using 1 Amp, but I dont know how much the Plafit Ripper motor is using, but i think about 1 Amp or less.

Torque vs High revs
Hello Haco
Welcome to the LMS forum.
The Rabbit, is a small can motor (small magnets) designed to run at 10-14volts. Its a low torque motor that needs high revs to deliver its max
power. The Bühler and Bison motors are designed for 18volts but their big magnets give them lots of torque even at low voltage settings.
As you mentioned that your Bühler engined Whitepoint chassis runs well on your 8,5 m track and beats the Rabbit/Plafit it on straightline speed, it
doesn't look like its lack of power/brake is power(supply) related.
It looks like your track isn't long enough for the Rabbit motor to make the revs it needs to get into its powerband.
You did not mention which gear you're running on the rear axle, try a using a shorter gear ratio. I think that a 8 pinion is the smallest there is so
try a bigger gear on the rear axle.

p.s. You can also try using a Fox II or a Falcon motor, they fit to the same bracket and seem to have more torque and brake. If all fails you can
still pop in a Bison MKIII, I believe the Super 24 chassis kit also has a motor bracket for them.
p.s.p.s. The reason why there's not much talk about Motor's on the tech forum is because in most Modelcar race series touching the Motor is a
definate No No 
But as you mentioned it, it wouldn't hurt to post some topics on how to run in and do maintenance on a Bison motor.

Thanks a lot for the quick responses. The tips are really usefull.
I have another questions which is less technical related. As I live in Belgium it's not easy to get Plafit parts. Where do you get your plafit parts?
Do they ship litle packages too ( f.e. a set of tires and a motor )? I have seen the shops in the links section which look allready interesting...
Is there a website where you can find say exploded views and manuals for the plafit chassis? Because there were some extra parts and some "mouse"
included in the chassis, but I have no clue where I can use them.
I have to say again, the LMS site is really nice, you don't find a lot of these realistic slot racing series on the net.

I was in slotbox a week ago, great shop! But unfortunatly a bit too far from Leuven to go there every week :S That's where I got my Super 24 chassis.
