OEPS Pre-report Race 3
Hello OEPS racers!
On the weekend 22nd to 24.November the final OEPS round of the 2013 season will be held on the fast track of Raceway Park Troisdorf.
Teams from Belgium, Finland, Netherlands, Luxembourg, spain and germany drove during the season.
OEPS (Open Endurance Prototype Series) is slotcar-racing with modern cars from LMP1, LMP2 and GT like ALMS or ELMS.
The race is bound to be exciting throughout all the different classes just as it has been in the previous 2 rounds.
Big Berta in Troisdorf
LMP1
For the LMP1 class it is becoming ever more exciting, as not only previous race winners 2013 No Limits and Plastikquäler are favourites for the win,
but also the very strong showing of the Belgians from Hobby2000 D&G was very impressive during the season and a first race-win would be the crown to
their great season. Also NDW Works Team is working hard to get another win since their last one is quite some time ago.
Usual suspects to chase these teams are the Lola’s of Racing for Julia and BL Racing, both running Frank Biela’s newest chassis creations which are
getting faster and faster. Running very strong last year in Troisdorf was Slotfabrik. Their new team for this year has already improved a great deal
and it’s very possible Slotfabrik will again reach the fastest group during this race. Not to forget Scuderia Kaitserrari, which will be using a new
and lighter body on their ever more refined chassis. And never rule out LRD, as they are bringing a fully new Lola, new chassis, new body with a
renewed goal of taking the fight right to the top of the field.
One thing the organisation has learned, is that if the Carbon Hornets succeed to qualify very well again, is to make sure there’s enough cold beer in
the fridge.
For the championship Plastikquäler are in a pretty comfortable position after No Limits suffered a penalty in the last race. Yet, they need to keep a
watchfull eye on both Hobby2000 D&G and NDW Works team. In the championship these last 2 teams are very close and 2nd place in the championship will
be decided in Troisdorf. Maybe Lrd or No Limits can fight for a podium position, too!
LMP2
Team Nemesis first entered during round 2 but what a performance they had! Qualifying among the top 6 overall with a LMP2 car showed their potential
and they will again take the fight to SRCB. Both teams driving Acura’s promises a hard battle with the Lola from Matchbox right on the heels. The RS
Spyder of Art&Racing did show a good overall speed during round 2, so maybe they are able to surprise the top3 favourites.
But as long as SRCB doesn’t hit any trouble, they should be able to clinch the first LMP2 title.
GT
This will be hard 3-way fight between the Corvette’s of RPM, 1a Slotpiste and Slotcraft. 1a Slotpiste scored a dominant win on their hometrack during
the 2 race and are now keen on showing they can repeat this in Troisdorf, where now Slotcraft will have home advantage.
For the Championship RPM seems safe, as they were the first team to enter the new GT class and thus have a large points advantage. But they’ll want
to finish in style with claiming a victory before they will proceed to LMP2 next year, as they have indicated they will.
