Availebility EEC 1/24 FIA GT Bodies, Kits & Decals
Note for Tamar : if you feel this post should rather be at the non-official IMCA thread, please feel free to move it to there. Since it is regarding
the F430 GT2 body, I posted it on this thread. Thanks in advance!
Hi everybody,
How far are we right now regarding this body-kit for the F430 GT2? It actually feels to me like I should be building the car right now, but if read
correctly, there seems to be not even a trace of the eventual master to mould it from... We are less than 2 months away now from the first race for
this brand new EEC and the most represented body in the field is not available yet. As you know, the use of this particular body shell is something
which was "imposed" on us by the powers that be, so choosing another body is not really an option, we would have chosen a longtime ago for the
997GT2 or GT3/RSR which are available in a couple of days after ordering them. They might not be that nice and /or accurate, but they are available,
and cheap...
Please dont get me wrong, I don't want to offend anybody, but I'm not so sure you guys realize that not everyone can spend a couple of days 24/7 in
a row building a car in the very last days before a race. Most of us need to do this after the working and housekeeping hours, a couple of evenings a
week...
Same goes for the very specific decal sets for these cars, I have been assured several times that these would be available largely in time, but so far
there doesn't seem to be anything available. I quote JPVR in his reaction (in July 2007...) to my open letter to IMCA "... and ... found in Germany a specialist who can make for IMCA all necessary decals at reasonable prices. So all FIA GT decals will be
available by December. " Well guys, in case you didn't notice, it is December right now...
We all know that a "modified" plastic kit body doesn't stand a chance against the "home brewed" bodies, so if we are supposed to come to these
EEC races and make this series a success, everybody would like to do so with a competitive car and bodyshell. If only the lucky few will have access
to the Fiber/Carbon/Resin bodies, the interest in this championship will soon drop, and I cannot imagine that this is what we are after, especially at
a moment our hobby is attracting new participants all over Europe.
So if I may allow myself to ask some concrete questions :
-Will there be a F430 GT2 body in short? and when exactly?
-Will the decals for these cars be available within a reasonable time-frame? When exactly? I don't expect anyone to materialize the promises made by
someone else, but you must admit that NOW is the time to act?
-And where should we order these items?
CU soon @ the races
Very best regards
Raymond

In General:
There are a few things that I would like to clarify
The Cars, Models, GRP bodies and Decals mentioned in the posts by LMC forum members (including myself) are the produce of our hobby, we are hobbiest
and not professionals!
Building your own FIA GT modelcar is a challenge, one that you all took on freely. Nobody "imposed" you to fill in the entry form
and hit the submit button!
I fully understand the anxiety that some of you may have on how to finish your cars in time for the first EEC race.
Which is why I and some other forum members are willing to help people to build these cars, but just like you, we also have to do this after work and
housekeeping hours.
And yes these hours are hard to find which is why when we build our own cars....it usualy results in some 24/7 days just before the race to get things
finished. This is not a luxery, it is a sacrifice we make to enjoy our hobby!
Here's an update on how things are right now.
F430 GT2 GRP kit
As Al posted on 24/11 the master for
the GRP kit is in the mail. Normally shipment from South Africa takes 10 - 15 days.
Nick is eagerly watching the postman everyday, and when the package arrives will start immidiately on making a mold etc etc. But until the postman
rings twice... we can do nothing.
If you can't wait any longer and feel that you must start now...use a Revell or Fujimi kit and make the small madifications yourself. Remarks that a
"modified" plastic kit body doesn't stand a chance against the "home brewed" bodies" are bollocks. Specially in the case of the F430!
Porsche 997 GT2 GRP kit
same story goes for the 997, I'm very happy to have gotten permission for Scaleproduction to copy his resin 997 kit, the master is now at the
resinfactory and as soon as he gets his bodies back one will be send to me... But until the postman rings twice... we can do nothing.
If you can't wait any longer and feel that you must start now...
For the 997 there's the awfull Ditech grp body, but its better than nothing if you cant wait. You want to make your own mold?...go ahead and buy the
997 by Profil 24. Or the Wiesel/werks 911GT3r grp body.
FIA GT Decals
Guys please don't wait for these rumoured "IMCA FIA GT decals" they don't exist!!!!!! IMCA has not ordered some specialist to produce "all" the
decals.
There are many specialist that will make any type of decal for you ....at a price! And they are not so hard to find and for a special "one off "
their prices are not that bad. So far several teams have produced their own decals or had them made for them (Slotfabrik, Franspeed, Whitemouse,
Z-machine)
Basic costs for a prototype decalsheet are ± 50-80 euro for the logo drawings and ± 20 euro for a printed set of decals. If you guys want their
adresses, mail me and I will send them to you!
Again I am willing to help out where possible, but my request for help from you guys in searching for the missing logo's or contacting the team of
your car...... has turned up.....nothing!
Good news is that Philippe Laudet is working on having some of the needed decals produced, I had contact with his manufacturer 2day and hopefully we
can combine our efforts.
Here's an update on how things are right now.
F430 GT2 Decals
#50 & #51 AF Corse: Al Paterson has made a homebrew set of decals for the #51 AF Corse, these can be printed by inktjet or laser on white decal paper.
He has asked Graig Strydrom to rework these pixel files into vector drawings but it takes time.
#52 & #53 Edil Cris: Rolf and Raymond have both tried to contact the team with no results, I distinctly remember Raymond posting that he could draw
the main logo's form the website pictures, I posted the logo's that where already in my database, but so far there has been no news or progress.
#63 Scuderia Ecosse: This car has recently been taken by the Whitemouse juniorteam. I got some of the logo's but still have to find good examples of
the small stuff. Any help appriciated!
Porsche 997 GT2 Decals
Here things are progressing nicely, mainly because these are basicly white cars. Ive got all the big logo's for the
#74 Ebimotors, #76 BMS and #99 Tech9 cars..only no body to testfit them and get them down to their proper sizes.
So that's the brake down on how things are right know and what I am working on
Oh did I forgot to mention the #7 Lambo and the #18 Corvette...and the #15 &16 Maserati's, well at least we have bodies for them so those guys can
start painting. oh no that's not true, I still need to finish the C5 kit or do I?
Anyhow....I will give priority to the GT2 decals.... that's all I can say for now.
I'm sure that after reading this post you'll have a better understanding...why things just take time

Hey guys,
just to let you know about decal printing. I've got a good address in Switzerland for printing. Decals need some work before cutting and applying but
nothing special (thin coat of clearcoat in order not to ruin the decals). Price are really OK. If interested let me know via U2U.
cheers,
de Massiven
p.s.: this guy made Ralph's Houzon decals for the IMCA Worlds 2007. Japanese signs were drawed by hand!!

Tamar, thnx for the decal information!
Our car (#53 edil cris) was actually not run at Spa 24 h. I have checked the pics on the team page and the cars is actually quite different, logo
wise, from race to race in the fia gt series. That’s except the yellow stripe, edil cris and Pirelli logos.
But since the #53 car was not actually run on Spa. I wonder then if we can make a replica of the #52 Spa car but with the yellow stripe instead of the
read and of course the #53 on the side. Then we can make a joint effort with team Sloefspeed in decal making and printing.

If anybody needs the #74 EBI Motors decals, I have made 99% of them and scaled them correctly. I have fitted them on the Porsche 997 GT3 RSR I scratch
built. I think you saw the car at the Worlds.

Sound like a good idea. I dont know where you guys have been looking but I did some surfin on the web this night and found most of the logo's for the
cars. Got some 70% of them already drawn up in Illustrator.
Need to wait till we have the body to get them to the proper sizes but it looks like I can now make a combined EDIL-CRIS and Scuderia Ecosse
decalsheet. But with the holliday season commin' up I wont be able to get them printed before the end of the year!

Hey Ferrari guys
I got the Ferrari today, and will start the job.
I've already got loads of pictures, but I still need pics of the car in top view, of the roof and the rear window part. I'm sure if I'd spend a few
more hours browsing I'd find the pics, but if some of you already have some, please post them here or send them to nickdewachterparts@live.nl
Would save me some time!
Thank you

Ferrari 430 - lights
Nick,
will the body you are making have 4 fronlights? On the Spa race the 430's had an ekstra set of lights low on the front in addition to the two main
lights they run with in the rest of the fia GT2 series.
This to prepare the right ligt set in the car

Scaleproduction Porsche 997 Slotkit
Hello Guys
Just got mail form Michael Graber (Scaleproduction) with some images of his the 997 RSR. Besides a static Curbside model he will also release the 997
as a resin slotkit with a full detail package (see contents below)
For slot use the wheelarches have been enlarged slightly (80mm front, 83mm rear) so that there's a bit more room for the suspension travel. As
mentioned before we've got permission from Scaleproduction to use his master to make GRP bodyshells for the EEC FIA GT teams.
Latest update is that we'll get the master just before or just after X-mas. It will be a tight schedule to get the bodies ready, but it will
definately be worth waiting for!
- Resin Bodyshell
- Vac formed Lexan Parts: Windows with precut sticker for the black window edges, Cockpit inlet, Dashboard, lamp lenses (front & rear)
- Laser cut Lexan Parts: Rear wing supports.
- Decal sheet Flying Lizard Sebering 2007
- Resin parts: Mirror, steeringwheel, Gearshift, Seat & Driver figure, Rearwing, Diffusor,4 wheel inserts BBS 19mm Ø
- Aluminium turned parts: Fire extiguisher, antenna
- P.E parts: Seatbelts, Grilles, Windscreenwiper, towhooks,Fuelfillercap, hood fastners, Wing endplates.

Update 430
Well everyone...
here's a first update:
First: Something probably has gone wrong during shipment, because Al's body has come here being 79 mm wide and the surface of it is covered with
little airholes, which has let me to believe that during the low airpressure in the plane fucked up chemical mix of the body.
So: Gert has brought me a Fujimi cup kit, which has excellent detail. Especially the windows are made in such a way that I can just copy them and
they'll fit without problems. Furthermore the body just looks better on several areas then the Revell.
The only downside: it's only 80mm wide.
The good news: that's the only thing I'll have to modify to the body besides the bottomskirts
Today I've finished making the originals of the inserts, including the deeper front wheel, which is the same as the rear but just slopes more
inwords. It's the same as the rear inserts for the Jetalliance Aston. (did you make one already Fola????)
While in the proces I made the rear insert for the 997 Porsche as well, which took me 2 days to make, it'll be finished tomorrow and, I'm sorry,
it's became freakin' awesome!
As some of you have mailed me concerning what the body will and will not have I can tell you this:
- The skirts: will be lower, as they should be concerning the GT2 430.
- The louvres: in front of the front wheelarches will be moulded in the body.
- Lexan Windows: will fit 10 times better then on the Revell which are from the inside up, very ugly.
- Rear Wing: For now I copied the Carrera C6 rearwing, it's not 100% right but it's the best I can do in this short time frame. Rubber spoiler
supports will be included.
- Extra holes for the two 'extra' center lights will be in the body, but closed, so you can choose if you wanna open it up or leave it closed.
- Rear lights will be copied in transparent resin.
- The under-rear of the body will be closed with a mesh, like on the real car, including holes for the exhausts.
Join us next time for another episode of SlotJunkMegaWars!

short update
Back again from another day of Ferrari
Tomorrow or something Tamar will add the pictures I made of the process, and I will give another in-depth update.
Today I started widening the left rear panel. Basicaly I want the same shape, only wider.
I want the rear 3mm wider in total, so I took 0.5mm sheetplastic, and just boldly glued them on the body, piece by piece like a puzzle. Did this in 3
layers so the plastic will follow the shape of the body pretty easy. And it''s an easy way to make sure this side will grow 1,5 mm. Tomorrow I will
explain how I will rebuild the shape of the panel.
Fortunately the underskirts on the Fuyimi are seperate, so it was easy to leghten them downwords 1mm without any unneccasary sanding on the body.
Yes Rolf, there are 2x2 rear lights, which I will copy in transparent resin, they are practicly the same as the standard Revell ones, in case you have
one, you can prepare your stuff using those.

Update
Hey you all,
Yesterday I was home to late to make an update, and because today I'm sick I have the time to update yesterday
In order to keep symmetry I did the right rear panel in the exact same manner as I did the left, so no need to explain that again.
Once I got that finished I started with the Milliput, which is not my normal cup of tea. Basicly I taped off my plastic "widening-kit", which runs
to the upper side of the Motorola stickers on the AF Corse car. (Can't get a freakin picture from the internet here, the application button to do so
doesn't work Willem!)
So, now the body right above my modifications is about 1,5 mm narrower each side. I want the panel, sloping from above downwords, to regain its swelty
curves. Just smeared on Milliput and started sculpting. Again, pictures will follow later.
Having finished this was sceduled today, but that'll have to wait till tommorownight Hatsjoe!
More to come

I'm back!
Sorry that this update has taken so long!
But it's been crazy at work, and being sick and all doesn't help a lot to speed things up.
But, we're back.
In these days I've sanded and shaped the left rear panel, it's not yet 100% finished but it's beginning to look very good.
I've also started on the front end.
In order to good the right clearance and splitter thickness, I had to glue on the sides and sideskirts. Placing the body on a perfectly flat table and
using a 0,8 mm thick plastic sheet as reference for the splitter, I took a strip of plastic and sort of pulled it around the front, so that the
charastaristic skirt is in the perfect place. When that was on I filled the gap in the middle of the front of the street 430 with glassbubbles. this
was the easy part
Next up will be, yes, those front louvres. I've not yet started this but this is how I plan to do it:
I will cut, out of 0,8mm sheet messing, a narrow strip, and I will bend this carefully to get the right curve in them. Then, using a very thick
dubblesided tape, tape 3 of them on each other, were the tape serves as the spacing between the louvres. Then I will glue this as a package in the
body, and when and if it's strong anough, I will peel out the tape, I hope!
Check later if my plan will work
