Note for Tamar : if you feel this post should rather be at the non-official IMCA thread, please feel free to move it to there. Since it is regarding
the F430 GT2 body, I posted it on this thread. Thanks in advance!
Hi everybody,
How far are we right now regarding this body-kit for the F430 GT2? It actually feels to me like I should be building the car right now, but if read
correctly, there seems to be not even a trace of the eventual master to mould it from... We are less than 2 months away now from the first race for
this brand new EEC and the most represented body in the field is not available yet. As you know, the use of this particular body shell is something
which was "imposed" on us by the powers that be, so choosing another body is not really an option, we would have chosen a longtime ago for the
997GT2 or GT3/RSR which are available in a couple of days after ordering them. They might not be that nice and /or accurate, but they are available,
and cheap...
Please dont get me wrong, I don't want to offend anybody, but I'm not so sure you guys realize that not everyone can spend a couple of days 24/7 in
a row building a car in the very last days before a race. Most of us need to do this after the working and housekeeping hours, a couple of evenings a
week...
Same goes for the very specific decal sets for these cars, I have been assured several times that these would be available largely in time, but so far
there doesn't seem to be anything available. I quote JPVR in his reaction (in July 2007...) to my open letter to IMCA "... and ... found in Germany a specialist who can make for IMCA all necessary decals at reasonable prices. So all FIA GT decals will be
available by December. " Well guys, in case you didn't notice, it is December right now...
We all know that a "modified" plastic kit body doesn't stand a chance against the "home brewed" bodies, so if we are supposed to come to these
EEC races and make this series a success, everybody would like to do so with a competitive car and bodyshell. If only the lucky few will have access
to the Fiber/Carbon/Resin bodies, the interest in this championship will soon drop, and I cannot imagine that this is what we are after, especially at
a moment our hobby is attracting new participants all over Europe.
So if I may allow myself to ask some concrete questions :
-Will there be a F430 GT2 body in short? and when exactly?
-Will the decals for these cars be available within a reasonable time-frame? When exactly? I don't expect anyone to materialize the promises made by
someone else, but you must admit that NOW is the time to act?
-And where should we order these items?
CU soon @ the races
Very best regards
Raymond
Hello Raymond and all others
I'm busy right now (got to work sometimes) but will reply in detail (much) later 2 night.

Hey guys,
just to let you know about decal printing. I've got a good address in Switzerland for printing. Decals need some work before cutting and applying but
nothing special (thin coat of clearcoat in order not to ruin the decals). Price are really OK. If interested let me know via U2U.
cheers,
de Massiven
p.s.: this guy made Ralph's Houzon decals for the IMCA Worlds 2007. Japanese signs were drawed by hand!!
empty handed today, maybe tomorrow

If anybody needs the #74 EBI Motors decals, I have made 99% of them and scaled them correctly. I have fitted them on the Porsche 997 GT3 RSR I scratch
built. I think you saw the car at the Worlds.
Erlo
and rang twice....
But I wasn't home
I'll have the kit tomorrow and will start work immediately!
Already got the wheels, wing and mirror originals prepared.
I'll update as much as possible.,
So gentleman, start placing your orders at nickdewachterparts@live.nl

As promised... Under 2 weeks delivery.. I like your postal services.
Anyway, good luck Nick, hope they're of your approval, (Well the one at least), and glad I could help.
Cheers guys.

I got the Ferrari today, and will start the job.
I've already got loads of pictures, but I still need pics of the car in top view, of the roof and the rear window part. I'm sure if I'd spend a few
more hours browsing I'd find the pics, but if some of you already have some, please post them here or send them to nickdewachterparts@live.nl
Would save me some time!
Thank you
Nick,
You got som pics in your mail box from team edil cris. If they'r not usable give me a message and I'll do a new search
Rolf
got some pics from a few people now, just need a real close-up of the louvres in front of the fronts
Quote: |
Nick,
will the body you are making have 4 fronlights? On the Spa race the 430's had an ekstra set of lights low on the front in addition to the two main
lights they run with in the rest of the fia GT2 series.
This to prepare the right ligt set in the car
Rolf
Hello Guys
Just got mail form Michael Graber (Scaleproduction) with some images of his the 997 RSR. Besides a static Curbside model he will also release the 997
as a resin slotkit with a full detail package (see contents below)
For slot use the wheelarches have been enlarged slightly (80mm front, 83mm rear) so that there's a bit more room for the suspension travel. As
mentioned before we've got permission from Scaleproduction to use his master to make GRP bodyshells for the EEC FIA GT teams.
Latest update is that we'll get the master just before or just after X-mas. It will be a tight schedule to get the bodies ready, but it will
definately be worth waiting for!
- Resin Bodyshell
- Vac formed Lexan Parts: Windows with precut sticker for the black window edges, Cockpit inlet, Dashboard, lamp lenses (front & rear)
- Laser cut Lexan Parts: Rear wing supports.
- Decal sheet Flying Lizard Sebering 2007
- Resin parts: Mirror, steeringwheel, Gearshift, Seat & Driver figure, Rearwing, Diffusor,4 wheel inserts BBS 19mm Ø
- Aluminium turned parts: Fire extiguisher, antenna
- P.E parts: Seatbelts, Grilles, Windscreenwiper, towhooks,Fuelfillercap, hood fastners, Wing endplates.
Hello Tamar
Any indications of the price for the Porsche from Scaleproduction?
Kind regards
Erlo

Did the decals in Coral Draw, will e-mail to you.
Yours look more correct than mine though, I did mine from scratch.
Kind regards
Erlo
Well everyone...
here's a first update:
First: Something probably has gone wrong during shipment, because Al's body has come here being 79 mm wide and the surface of it is covered with
little airholes, which has let me to believe that during the low airpressure in the plane fucked up chemical mix of the body.
So: Gert has brought me a Fujimi cup kit, which has excellent detail. Especially the windows are made in such a way that I can just copy them and
they'll fit without problems. Furthermore the body just looks better on several areas then the Revell.
The only downside: it's only 80mm wide.
The good news: that's the only thing I'll have to modify to the body besides the bottomskirts
Today I've finished making the originals of the inserts, including the deeper front wheel, which is the same as the rear but just slopes more
inwords. It's the same as the rear inserts for the Jetalliance Aston. (did you make one already Fola????)
While in the proces I made the rear insert for the 997 Porsche as well, which took me 2 days to make, it'll be finished tomorrow and, I'm sorry,
it's became freakin' awesome!
As some of you have mailed me concerning what the body will and will not have I can tell you this:
This sounds great Nick!
just one more questions regarding the lights. There will be two pairs of rear lights (2x2 that means)?
Rolf
Back again from another day of Ferrari
Tomorrow or something Tamar will add the pictures I made of the process, and I will give another in-depth update.
Today I started widening the left rear panel. Basicaly I want the same shape, only wider.
I want the rear 3mm wider in total, so I took 0.5mm sheetplastic, and just boldly glued them on the body, piece by piece like a puzzle. Did this in 3
layers so the plastic will follow the shape of the body pretty easy. And it''s an easy way to make sure this side will grow 1,5 mm. Tomorrow I will
explain how I will rebuild the shape of the panel.
Fortunately the underskirts on the Fuyimi are seperate, so it was easy to leghten them downwords 1mm without any unneccasary sanding on the body.
Yes Rolf, there are 2x2 rear lights, which I will copy in transparent resin, they are practicly the same as the standard Revell ones, in case you have
one, you can prepare your stuff using those.
Hey you all,
Yesterday I was home to late to make an update, and because today I'm sick I have the time to update yesterday
In order to keep symmetry I did the right rear panel in the exact same manner as I did the left, so no need to explain that again.
Once I got that finished I started with the Milliput, which is not my normal cup of tea. Basicly I taped off my plastic "widening-kit", which runs
to the upper side of the Motorola stickers on the AF Corse car. (Can't get a freakin picture from the internet here, the application button to do so
doesn't work Willem!)
So, now the body right above my modifications is about 1,5 mm narrower each side. I want the panel, sloping from above downwords, to regain its swelty
curves. Just smeared on Milliput and started sculpting. Again, pictures will follow later.
Having finished this was sceduled today, but that'll have to wait till tommorownight Hatsjoe!
More to come
Sorry that this update has taken so long!
But it's been crazy at work, and being sick and all doesn't help a lot to speed things up.
But, we're back.
In these days I've sanded and shaped the left rear panel, it's not yet 100% finished but it's beginning to look very good.
I've also started on the front end.
In order to good the right clearance and splitter thickness, I had to glue on the sides and sideskirts. Placing the body on a perfectly flat table and
using a 0,8 mm thick plastic sheet as reference for the splitter, I took a strip of plastic and sort of pulled it around the front, so that the
charastaristic skirt is in the perfect place. When that was on I filled the gap in the middle of the front of the street 430 with glassbubbles. this
was the easy part
Next up will be, yes, those front louvres. I've not yet started this but this is how I plan to do it:
I will cut, out of 0,8mm sheet messing, a narrow strip, and I will bend this carefully to get the right curve in them. Then, using a very thick
dubblesided tape, tape 3 of them on each other, were the tape serves as the spacing between the louvres. Then I will glue this as a package in the
body, and when and if it's strong anough, I will peel out the tape, I hope!
Check later if my plan will work
This sounds just great Nick. I must admit that I have no idea of how much work this is, but I presume that it’s more time consuming that we can
imagine.
We obviously must try to make the cars as god looking as possible. I am afraid that we might fail to keep up to your standards, but well do as best we
can
Rolf
every model we make at the RFH workshop is a lot of work, approximately between 300 and 400 hours, before every part for this new model is complete.
This 430 makeover is so far even the easiest yet
But I dont think it should be that hard for you to get the car living up to 'my standards'. Cause all you have to do is paint it, decal it,
clearcoat it, paint the interieur and inserts, and some detailpainting, and you're off.
What I personally always use for painting my cars is using normal Tamiya spraycan colour, in your case black, let it dry for at least 4 hours, then
decal it, use 70% alcohol to get airbubbles out, let the decals dry overnight, and then for safety I use Topcoat, or if I'm sure the decals can take
it, Mr Hobby Super Clear, this is a bit more aggresive clearcoat.
Will talk you trough your build as soon as you have your kits , and you
can of course always ask.
today I've nailed the front louvre issue, mostly in the way I had planned, but I used plastic sheets instead of messing ones. It still is a hard job,
but I just took my time and the front left side is pretty much done. If one looks closer you'll see that's it's not just the louvre that needs to
change, but also the way the wheelarch arches down, in a straight line, to where the front skirt ends. Tomorrow morning the front right side will
follow and then the splitter, which is an easy one.
Then will undoubtly follow some endless sanding and priming the rear panels. But before that I will make the rear detail.
Reveiling my own 'secrets', I'm testing my Maser almost every
wednesday on the test track in Almere, and it has improved a lot, I just hope it'll be enough.
Updates on a few others:
Henry and his Maser have yet to start building.
Tamar has his Lambo in some patching up stage, and will probably have to build a new one after Oslo. At the moment he's pretty busy making a very
nice C5-R Corvette finally we'll have one!
I'm trying to supply everyone with the Ferrari in time. I've taken almost a hundred pictures untill now, just have to find a way to get them here,
as they are Tamars cam....
I have no idea on how the Porsche guys are progressing. Hopefully there will be enough time to take the perfect Scaleproductions Porsche and copy it
for them.
After my Ferrari's are shipped out I'm planning to make a nice GT for myself for fun, either the white and black #7 Lambo Murcie, or the
threecoloured Larbre Comp Aston Martin DBR-9, or the Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari 430 GT2. I will make pics of this build to.
Happy hollidays everyone.
Well, after a first curious shot of primer, I was amazed with how well the rear panels look. Of course it will need some sanding and primering, but it
looks better than I thought. Front louvres are in on both sides. An accidental big scratch on the hood is gone. Looks like I'm in the final
stages.
Which includes: Making the rear detail, but I don't think this will take long.
Making the splitter, which is easy.
Checking out if the window stiles need work. I want the windows to fit on top of the stiles, and not from the inside out, like on the Revell kit.
Making spoiler supports, which are quite easy on the Ferrari as well.
Mirrors are already done, so are the wheel inserts, for which I have to make a few extra molds to keep up with demand.
I still have the molds for making a lexan interior for the 430 from the white 430's we raced in Barca, so no need to make a new one
I know, trust me, the pics will follow
(Fola, you have U2U)
Ok here's an update on the f430 decals...
It's been a lot of work, but so far I'm happy with the result. All the logo's for the AF corse Motorola, the Edil- Cris and the Scuderia Ecosse
cars have been drawn, and scaled.
For this job the added challenge was that I needed to make a full set of body templates, sort of what you get if you "skinn" a 3 dimensional f430
and "flatten it to a 2 dimensional drawing.
Sound's easy, but it is a lot of work and it takes endless cyles of drawing, printing, test fitting and redrawing ect....
...and after many, many, many hours you get something like this.
Tamar,
This just looks great! I admire the work you RfH guys do to get your cars, and in this case also our car, exact replicas of the original 1/1 scale car
I must admit that my primary interest is in running the cars, and not so much in building. But with the effort you put in to this I do look forward to
put this car together as the best looking car in my garage
Rolf
The first try out of the Af corse decals.
This is why I needed to make the body templates, as I wanted to make a decal set where you had 2 options.
Nice work... man
Almost done! tomorrow it'll be swimming
Impressive!
Can’t wait to get hold of those 430 bodys!
For Tamar and also Nick: Is your decals in such a stage that you can manage to get the sheets printed and shipped with the body? If so please u2u me
wire information and prize and you have the $ going your way right away. If not, Nick can please just send the body’s so that we can start working
on it as soon as possible.
Rgds
Rolf
Hi Nick,
it's looking awesome dude. Are you still going to add the Naca ducts and round vents on the bonnet?
I LOVE the side fins dude.. Definately have to relook at my mold and redo it.
Cheers
Big Al
last night and I'm now heading back again after a shower to pour the silicone, I just kept wanting to perfect the body more. I reshaped the louvres
again and now they are almost perfect.
A hint: You'll love this lady's behind
So today is pouring, takes only 3 hours to dry, tonight pour the second mold, so I can laminate the body's in pairs of two, to get them the all of
you as quick as possible.
Naca duct is in (one of my Nismo had written a donorform - perfect shape- ), also all the other parts like fuel nozzles and front air intakes. The panel lines on the rear panels are back. Splitter is on, wing supports are
made, a big mold for the modern 7 spoke BBS is drying
Thank you Al so much for the engine detail, saved me a lot of time, it's already swimming and will be vacuformed this afternoon at 16:00.
But the butt I made this night is the hottest, you'll al see them soon here, but even more.... on the track
I'm not gonna make the little air holes on the front bonnet, cause only AF Corse has them and they are a nightmare to make, on Al's body one
(probably the first) hole is perfect, but the other looks good but is just not exactly equal, cause it is such a hard shape to make.
What will my next project be? I dont know yet, but I'm still wanting a Saleen, a good one. hmm maybe. First probably is the Porsche 997.
Sounds logical, and I can't wait to see the results dude.. Get Pics online FAST...
And, if you're interested, a top secret development is currently under way on this side of the planet, based on something you mentioned, which
exists, but isn't exactly correct...
I'll leave you all in suspense for a few weeks..
Cheers
Big Al
so Als workin on the Cursa Saleen...
Nicks got some nice ASS and no sleep ;-)....
and me... ??
Been mad busy (in my Basement!!
P.S that silikon is good to go in 90 mins.....

or "Laminate in 60 Seconds?
Pff, got some sleep tonight and that works
We got things rollin' as the decals are printed tomorrow, hope nothing goes wrong but I dont think so. The work that we have seen from this man is
really profesional.
Can't wait to get the first of the 430 out the mold myself
Will post again when I have one, so I can give her sizes
Did see a amazingly nice 550 made by studio27
To bad they are not running anymore, it was, after the Viper, the foundation of the FIA GT as we know it.
but first up, the Porsche 997 and the Corvette C5-R.
Keep it up little man, I'm certain it's gonna look WICKEDLY good.
And no, it's certainly NOT a Cursa Model...
Regards
B A
got the first one laminated, and as expected the first one is never perfect. But dimensions are:
82,8 rear
80,0 front
roofheigth 47,0 mm with 1mm ground clearance.
So that comes round 213 grams on Tamars new GT2 weight calculator ,
against the Porsche coming out on around 196 grams, cause of it's amazingly short wheelbase.
Today was a bit hard to laminate one in the early evening, had to work 13 hours straight at work, so tonight I will laminate the second, and tomorrow
the third and fourth as I have 2 molds.
Hi again guys,
I just looked at this thread and IT'S JUST INCREDIBLE THE AMOUNT OF TIME AND WORK THAT YOU HAVE DONE TO GET THE BODY AND THE DECALS FOR THEM...
I SALUTE YOU...
Does this body meet the rules height for JP's race this summer????Or am I getting the different races confused??????????I do that a lot at my
age...
CONFUSED that is...
crash
Light at the end of the tunnel.....
