its air cooled engine in the back the GT 2 was Porsche's last descendant
in the long line of the "classic" 911 series.
Replacing the 911 RSR in 1995 its rugged design and excellent factory
support program Porsche had created the ideal combination for its customers
to go racing.
Raced by teams all over the world, the GT 2 collected more titles than
any other Zuffenhausen GT.
Unchallenged in its class until 96, it faced fierce competition when
Chrysler entered its Vipers in GT-2.
Still the 911 GT2 managed to beat its more modern adversaries, if more
by domination in numbers than by sheer force. But then again, to finish
first, you first have to finish.
