Looks like a great space to have what is arguably the best model car track in the world.
I still smile when I think of the brief time I had on that track. My wife even thought it was cool. I want to move to Europe :)

The good people of 1A Slotpiste (http://www.1a-slotpiste.de/) are the new proud owners of the spectacular Spa track. Here some pictures from it's 3rd move: http://www.1a-slotpiste.de/bilder/2010/Spa_Bahn_Heimerzheim/

Keep checking their site for updates!

Hello Raymond

Saw that Bjorn is going to Charleroi this weekend, will you be there as well?
Maybe we can talk there?

Gabe,

you don't need to rip all of the braids off....
I know a workaround which requires only about 15 cm of new braid per connection to be redone... that is let's say 15 x 2 braids x 6 lanes = 180 cm per track segment connection...
And it would be a lot less work to do, the final result will be much better than the method you are thinking about, and as a bonus, it allows for eventually later taking the track apart without all of the hassle. It's too long to explain in this message, but don't hesitate to contact me....

well - more volunteers are always welcome - there's still a ton to be done...

Btw - has anyone a good tip or trick on how to splice braids. This is to make it longer where they had to be cut for taking the track segments apart. I'm thinking of cutting them at an angle of about 45 degrees, pushing the two braid ends into each other (goes in for about 0.5 to 1 mm), placing the whole thing up-side down into a heat resistant rail with the exact width of the braid and pressing a really hot iron onto the joining part. I have tried it without any rail and the soldering isn't very smooth - subsequent sanding by hand or dremel would be required. I'd like to avoid that extra step as it already is a hell of a job.
Of course, if we had plenty of money we would rip out all the braids...

Hoi Gabriël,

When do you expect the track to be operational?
Any chance before februari?:D

Be aware that you have taken an awesome responsiblity by doing this building job.
Only this track can seduce the WEAM Team to leave there Heitelân.
So, our state of happiness is in your hands.
Take good care of it;).

Hey Guys, preliminary post of the activities around moving the Spa wooden track from Alsdorf to Bedburg. For now just the pics as Marcel & Stefan Kuhn and myself are en route to Bedburg to continue with pulling out the damaged braids...
