10706 view(s) ![]() The 2001 EXP Speed 8 was Bentley's return to Le Mans after 4 decades and 3rd at Le Mans 2001 wasn't a bad start!
Tapping into Audi's Le Mans experience (Audi owns Bentley), Bentley had opted for the (closed) LMGTP class.
While the EXP Speed 8 undoubtedly was influenced by Audi's 1999 closed top R8C LMGTP, the only component that Audi and Bentley shared is the engine block.
Proof that Bentley isn't interested in simply making up the numbers can be found in the big transfer of key personell from Audi and Joest racing to England. There they will play a waiting game until the new (more equal) GTP regulations will fall in place in 2004.
