The Joest Porsche LMP has maybe one of the most bizarre histories in Modern sportscar racing.
It's origins date back as far as the "91" Jaguar XJR14 WSC. After a rebadge as a Mazda in "93" the TWR design was selected by Porsche for its "Open prototype" assault on Daytona and LM in 1994.

Just how fast the original hybrid WSC was we'll never know, as Porsche was accused of "sandbagging" during the Daytona tests. As a result of its (presumed) pace the car had to run with smaller restictors where up on Porsche with drew their cars from the race.

One year later the car was pulled from the shelf and handed to Joest racing as an back up for the 911 GT1. In hind sight Porsche should have know better. Herr Reinhold never lets go when he smells a change to win!
